Yesterday was one of the biggest days I’ve had in a long time.
I took to the stage at the Overton Scarecrow Festival to perform in front of a crowd, and if I’m honest, I was terrified.
I’ve sung at karaoke nights before, but standing on a festival stage in front of so many people felt like a completely different world. The nerves were there from the moment I woke up, and they only got worse as my performance got closer. I kept wondering whether I’d forget the words, hit the wrong notes, or simply freeze.
But somehow, I got through it.
Looking back now, I’m really glad I pushed myself to do it. It wasn’t perfect, but it didn’t need to be. The audience were wonderful, and they gave me the confidence to keep going from the first song to the last.
What I wasn’t prepared for was what happened afterwards.
My phone has barely stopped buzzing since yesterday. I’ve had so many lovely messages from people saying they enjoyed the performance, and I’ve had people stop me to say such kind things. I honestly didn’t expect that at all, and I’ve been a bit overwhelmed by the reaction.
It’s easy to focus on what you think went wrong when you’re the one on stage, but hearing that people enjoyed it means more than I can say.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along, sang, clapped, cheered, or took the time to send me a message afterwards. Your support means the world.
Would I do it again?
Ask me once the nerves have worn off… but I think the answer might just be yes.
