About Me

Hello, and welcome.

I’m Rob Francis, and this website is home to the projects, ideas and interests that keep me busy. Rather than focusing on just one career or hobby, it’s a place where everything comes together, from radio broadcasting and website development to photography, writing and the community projects I’m fortunate enough to be involved in.

I’ve always enjoyed creating things that people can use, enjoy or learn from. Sometimes that’s a website designed to help a business or organisation reach more people. Sometimes it’s a radio programme that keeps listeners company for a couple of hours. Other times it’s an article, a photograph or an event that brings a community together. Whatever the project, my aim is always the same: to produce something that’s well thought out, professionally presented and genuinely worthwhile.

Radio is one of my greatest passions. I love the connection it creates between presenter and listener, whether it’s sharing local news, introducing great music or simply providing a familiar voice at the other end of the speaker. Local radio has an important role to play in bringing communities together, celebrating local achievements and giving people a platform that they might not otherwise have. Being part of that is something I never take for granted, and it’s a privilege to contribute to stations that put their listeners at the heart of everything they do.

Alongside broadcasting, I’ve spent many years designing and developing websites for businesses, community organisations and personal projects. Technology changes at an incredible pace, but the principles of good web design remain the same. A website should be fast, easy to navigate, accessible to everyone and designed around the needs of the people using it. I enjoy finding practical solutions to technical challenges and helping people establish an online presence they’re proud of.

Photography has been another lifelong interest. It encourages me to slow down, notice the details and capture moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed. Whether I’m photographing landscapes, local events or everyday scenes, I enjoy the challenge of telling a story through a single image. Much like radio or writing, photography is another way of communicating, and I find each creative outlet complements the others.

Community has become an increasingly important part of what I do. Many of the projects I work on involve supporting local charities, clubs, businesses and volunteers by helping them reach a wider audience. I firmly believe that strong communities are built on good communication, and if I can play a small part in promoting local events, sharing important information or encouraging people to get involved, then I’ve achieved something worthwhile.

This website isn’t intended to be a polished portfolio or a carefully curated highlight reel. Instead, it’s a genuine reflection of the things I enjoy doing and the work I’m proud to share. You’ll find blog posts, photographs, radio updates, technical projects, event information and the occasional opinion piece when something inspires me to put pen to paper. Some articles will be practical, others more personal, but all of them are written because I believe they’re worth sharing.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. Whether you’ve arrived because you’ve heard one of my radio programmes, you’re looking for web development services, you’ve seen one of my photographs or you’ve simply stumbled across the site while browsing the internet, I hope you find something that interests you. New projects are always underway, new ideas are never far away and this website continues to evolve alongside them, so I hope you’ll visit again soon.
