A Weekend I’ll Never Forget: Hosting the Village Scarecrow Festival

What a weekend it was!

Hosting the village’s Scarecrow Festival was an absolute joy from start to finish. It was one of those weekends where you come away feeling exhausted, but with a huge smile on your face because you know you’ve been part of something really special.

The whole event was packed with community spirit, laughter, creativity and plenty of fantastic scarecrows. Seeing so many people come together, enjoy themselves and support a brilliant local event was wonderful. Being involved behind the scenes and helping bring everything together was a privilege.

But for me, the biggest moment of the weekend was stepping onto the stage.

Now, anyone who knows me through radio will probably be surprised to hear this, but I was incredibly nervous. Standing behind a microphone in a studio is one thing, but standing in front of a live audience, with everyone watching you, feels like a completely different challenge.

Before I went on, I was an absolute bag of nerves. My mind was racing, and I was wondering whether I would be able to do it. There’s always that little voice in your head asking, “What if something goes wrong?” or “What if I forget what I’m meant to say?”

But once I stepped onto that stage, something clicked. I took a deep breath, looked out at the crowd, and just went for it.

And you know what? I loved it.

The nerves slowly disappeared, and I found myself enjoying the moment. Hearing the audience respond, seeing people smiling and knowing that I was helping create a great atmosphere made it all worthwhile.

It was a big personal moment for me. I’ve spent years behind microphones, presenting radio shows and talking to listeners, but performing live on stage was a completely different experience. It pushed me outside my comfort zone, and I’m really proud that I did it.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, everyone who helped organise the festival, and everyone who supported the event. It was a fantastic celebration of our village and the amazing community we have here.

I’m already looking forward to the next one… although I might need a little less panic beforehand next time!

What a weekend. What a memory.
