Sometimes, starting again is exactly what you need.
For a while, this blog came from a place that wasn’t particularly healthy for me. I was writing about my mental health, the difficult days, the things I was struggling with and the thoughts that could sometimes become very heavy. In many ways, writing was an outlet, and at the time I needed somewhere to put those feelings.
But looking back, I don’t want this blog to be defined by that period of my life.
That doesn’t mean I’m going to pretend everything is perfect. Far from it. Life is messy, complicated and occasionally throws things at you that you weren’t expecting. I’m still learning, still figuring things out and still having good days and not-so-good days. I think there’s value in being honest about that.
What I want to do differently this time is make this blog feel like a much broader picture of who I am.
Photography is going to become a much bigger part of it. I’ve always enjoyed taking photographs, whether that’s capturing a beautiful sunrise, something interesting I’ve spotted while out walking, an event, a familiar local scene or simply one of those little moments that would otherwise pass unnoticed.
There’s something I really enjoy about photography. It makes you stop and look. You start noticing the light, the colours, the details and the things that you might normally walk straight past. I want to share more of those moments here.
I’m also going to be a little more open about life in general. Not necessarily turning every post into a deep and meaningful examination of my existence, but sharing the things that matter to me, the things I’m enjoying, the things I’m learning and, occasionally, the things that haven’t quite gone according to plan.
There will probably be stories from behind the microphone, observations from everyday life, photography, places I’ve visited, things I’ve discovered and the occasional completely random thought that seemed worth sharing at the time.
Most importantly, though, I want this to feel positive. The previous version of this blog reflected where my head was at then. This version is about where I am now, and where I’m hoping to go next.
So, consider this a reset. A clean page. A new chapter. A chance to tell a few different stories and perhaps show you a little more of the person behind the radio microphone.
I’m not promising that every post will be profound. Some probably won’t be remotely profound. But they will be honest. And hopefully, there’ll be some good photographs along the way too.
