Full House, Bingo, Jackpot!

A lot has happened in the last few months, hence why I haven’t posted a blog entry recently. Still, it’s all been good…

…the first thing is after everything that has happened over the last few months, I’m back in regular employment for the first time in a very long time. I took the plunge and answered a recruitment advert for a job at Buzz Bingo. I went for the interview and they seemed to be very impressed by me, and offered me the job 3 hours after the interview took place!

I’ve now been there for almost three months, and I have to say that it’s one of the best jobs I’ve ever had. I’m working with the nicest people I’ve ever worked with, the customers are lovely, and I’m really enjoying getting out of the house and doing something worthwhile with my life.

My main role at work is that of a Presenter, which basically involves calling out the numbers during the evening and making sure the games are stopped when someone wins. It took a bit of time to get used to all the button pressing, but I’ve made some great progress, and I really enjoy getting up on the stage and chatting with the customers in-between games. This job has really improved my mental health and attitude on life, and I hope to work here for many, many years to come… 🙂

Last weekend we held “Bingo Revolution”, which was a big event full of bingo and music, all hosted by one of the funniest drag artists I’ve ever seen. I volunteered to model the prizes throughout the evening, not knowing what I was letting myself in for, but I really got into the swing of things and let my hair down (ahem) to make sure the customers were enjoying themselves. It was an amazing night, and I’m just glad that the footage of me dancing with a blow-up doll has not emerged.

Yet.

I recently had my three month diabetes check-up, and the good news is that I’m making positive steps towards going into remission. I have another blood test in February, so will be continuing the hard work I’ve already achieved. I’m still finding it difficult to take all the compliments about my weight loss. It’s great that people are noticing it, but it does get a bit embarrasing sometimes.

I’m also looking forward to finally celebrating my birthday next week! After the shit-show that was last year, I’m looking forward to a few days with good friends, good food and good beer!
